Ladies and Gentlemen Ms. Rachel Izzo.
Rachel is a nationally ranked Olympic weightlifter who has been a lover of physical activity for her whole life. In 2004 while she was recovering from a gymnastics injury, she met Dave Werner and became the youngest member of CrossFit Seattle (then CrossFit North). Throughout high school, Rachel trained at CrossFit and excelled at soccer and lacrosse. In 2008, she discovered Olympic weightlifting. A former gymnast, the explosive power of the Olympic lifts appealed to her, and she soon fell in love with the sport and began training full time as an Olympic weightlifter. A few months after she started training, she qualified for her first national meet and with her training lift PR’s (body weight snatch at 57.5 kg and a 70 kg clean and jerk) she set her sights on the American Open in December and Junior Nationals in March. A broken wrist in November caused her to miss all national meets this year, but next year she plans to reach her goals and continue with her lifting career.
We have invited Rachel to become a part of our staff this summer. Rachel will be available for private lifting sessions should any of you be interested. Introduce yourselves to Rachel and cheer her on during her training as she gets ready for the London Olympics. We are very happy welcome Rachel she will be a great addition to our team.
